"it's like a flower. if you fall in love with a flower growing on a star, then at night you feel sweet and happy when you look at the sky, and all the stars are like flowers."

the first time i read the little prince, in high school, was immediately attracted by his fresh writing style and the simple world. six years later, at the moment, read the "little prince", can not help but again and again to tears, and palpitation for prince's mind be sad, moved by his pure and persistent love, for his innocence and mourning gradually to disappear. as the author of st. erik marcus paley said in the preface, he put the fairy tale "to leon? wirth, when he was a boy"

i didn't know this book was very famous in the west. it was a book that my adult and children liked to read. no wonder my mother would give it to me. i read it later. the little prince lived on a planet that was very small, and watered every day his roses. then the little prince traveled away from the planet and saw a lot of strange monsters on the planet until he came to earth and saw a pilot who had broken a plane in the desert. the little prince had a deep friendship with the pilot, but he missed his roses very much. in order to leave the earth, the little prince was bitten by a venomous snake, and then the pilot never saw him again.

at the beginning of the book, the irony of the unimaginative people, "these adults never actively understand anything; and for our children, always explain to them again and again......" "so i wouldn't talk to him about pythons, primeval forests, or stars. i only talk about things they can understand, such as bridge, golf, politics, ties, etc.. in this way, this person will be very happy, one met a reasonable and considerate person." and the children said to adults, "i saw a beautiful house, which was made of rose bricks, a window with a geranium, and a pigeon on the roof."." they have to be able to imagine what the house looks like, and you have to say, "i saw a house worth twenty thousand dollars."." they have to say, "that house is sure to be beautiful." saint exupery is perhaps in adults alone, then through the little prince's eyes to find adults much ado about nothing, to share the wealth, money and power in order to forget the knowledge of the true value of his life

really need to lose their most valuable innocence and innocence, lost their imagination and beauty.

from the little prince's words, we can see that everything has its surface and authenticity. in many cases, we only see the superficial things, but ignore the inherent benefits. the little prince remembered the fox's words: "only the mind can see the essence of things; what is really important is invisible to the naked eye."". so he said, "just because there is a flower that we can't see, the stars look so beautiful."." "the desert is beautiful, because somewhere in the desert there is a well hidden."." ah, the little prince's heart is very rich. a lot of things are mysterious because we can't see them with our naked eyes. in fact, these are so simple, just need a heart full of love.

maugham explores the contradiction and interaction between life and art in his novels. the escapist themes revealed in the novel, which coincided with the aspirations of many in the west, became popular fiction in the 20th century.

"maugham's gauguin-inspired novel the moon and sixpence is undoubtedly more fiction than fact." "over the next decade gauguin thought he would finally be able to enjoy the fruits of his success and bring the family together." high contrast fiction and reality can be found, more the pursuit of painting has its causal relationship and the process of development, and the departure of strickland is very abrupt and too intense, combined with the author use the fictional plot and narrative skills, has shaped an unkind world and out-of-touch so-called pure sense of the artist. compared with gauguin's departure, the protagonist strickland's departure does not conform to the logic of reality at all, and is even more incomprehensible to readers. there is a deeper reason for maugham's writing. that is, the virtual satisfaction of maugham's self-desire.

the sixpence was the smallest unit of money in england at the time. a friend had joked to maugham that when looking at the moon people often forgot their sixpence under their feet. maugham thought this was funny and got the title, even in a joking way. the moon represents lofty ideals, and the sixpence represents reality.

book report

the little prince which written by antoine de saint-exupery tells a story including the little prince travels to several stars in universe.the author stressed main topic of book by the communications between the little prince and different grown-ups in different stars.in other words, the novel exposes some babd things for adult nature through the clear perception which only a little boy can have.

now let me relate summaries of the plots to you.at first ,the little prince meets the narrator of the novel, apilot, and the little prince shares something about his star with the pilot. we can see that the little prince is very innocent and loves his rose who loves the little prince too.then what we can know is that the little prince passes the king’s star, the conceited man’s star the tippler’s star, the businessman’s star, the geographer’s star, the lamplighter’s star successively.eventually,he arrives at earth and makes friends with the snake and fox.the little prince makes a deep impression on the pilot so that the pilot still thinks of him frequently after his sudden disappearance.we all can realize that some adults are formalist, blind, conceited, utilitarian, false, selfish, numb and perplexed from the experiences of the littleprince.it seems that people stop the pursuit of truth, virtue and beauty but the little prince doesn’t stop it.

there is no doubt that the hero is the little prince.the little prince is an embodiment of true, virtue and beauty.he is an extremely positive role.he mentions his rose and his volcanoes a lot of times during his journey which is from b-612 to earth.that means his sincere affection for his rose and his longing for ,the little prince shows his kindness as he gets along with the pilot, thesnake, the fox and different adults.the little prince gives his honest advice after he knows different people’s strange activities.forexample, the little prince would like to help lamplighter to extricate him from a difficult position,so he talks to lamplighter“your planet is so small that three strides will take you all the way around be always in the sunshine, you need only walk along rather slowly.when you want to rest, you will walk and the day will last as long as you like.”although the advice doesn’t do the lamplighter much good because what the lamplighter wants is to sleep.however, the sincerity and the concern the little prince has make people’s heart feel warm.in the meantime, the little prince unfold his deep love for nature through his idea.forexample, the novel mentions that“what the little prince did not dare confess was that he was sorry most of all to leave this planet, because it was blest every day

with 1440 sunsets”besides the little prince’s best friends cover plant and animal, likerose, fox, snake.in fact, many people say the little prince brighten the entire world.i think that the reason why it is a influential fairy tale is that the little prince who possesses sincere feeling, friendly attitude, innocence and kindness.

the whole novel reveal some bad characters of adult but it is a warm-toned novel. what’s more important, the plants and the animals are able to think and speak in the story,so the story is very vivid and colorful.this reason interests lots of readers to focus themselves attention on the story.when he narrates the story, the author rely on many roles’ words to inform a number of sense.for instance, the fox says“and now here is my secret, a very simple secret. it is only with the heart that one can see rightlywhat is essential is invisible to the eyes”,“but if you tame me, then we shall need each other. to me, you will be unique in all the world. to you, i shall be unique in all the world.”, the snake says“it is also lonely among men”and the little prince says“the house, the stars, the desert – what gives them their beauty is something that is invisible”sometimes these words not only make me think deeply but also let me touch deeply.the little princedrives everyone to return childhood time and don’t grow up any more, but we all know it is impossible. what can we do is only to keep innocent, kind and clean heart as we grow up.

"a tale of two cities" is hailed as the most outstanding representative of the french revolution, and i think the biggest reason may be because it is different. unlike other works, such as carlisles "the french revolution", dickens was more concerned with the joys and sorrows of the people at the bottom. in those days, though, the little figures themselves did not draw the worlds attention. but the authors keen capture of these little figures and the great revolution is inextricably linked, and arguably the french revolution itself was inspired by the power of the little people.

the french revolution was a mark of blood in human history. in that chaotic era, full of uncertainty; in such a state of disorder, all human nature is revealed. a tale of two cities by the french revolution as the background, through to race hatred between civilians and conflict, the author want to convey the dickens -- - unable to wash away hatred, blood cannot replace love -- - more aristocratic tyranny to civilians caused pain will not heal, because blood civilians to hatred cannot replace love for lost relatives. in the story, dr menet was freed from prison to live with his daughter in london.

five years later, they testified in court for the french youth, charles darnay, who married darnay in love. in 1792, the french revolution broke out and the scene moved to france. darnay, who had been arrested and sentenced to death for being a descendant of the aristocracy, had been in love with lucys english youth, sidney, at the critical moment. carton took the guillotine for him. carden is one of the most attractive and complex characters in the book. decadent, negative, at school, he only writes homework for classmates; after society, even with all the talent, it still chose to work for another lawyer. but beneath his cold exterior, there was a deep tenderness.

with this a welcome tenderness and love for lucy, cardan made a significant decision - - instead of the guillotine dyer that -- - with his own life in exchange for another persons life, in return for a familys happiness and smile. it was the act of carden guarding lucy, sacrificing for love, how noble it was in that great age, even in modern times! compared with the tenderness and love of the representative, mrs. dofstone was a symbol of bloodshed and bloodshed. the death of a loved one in the hands of darnays father and uncle, she lived for a lifetime of hatred; for the death of darnays family, he had no need of it, and at last he was killed by a fire. the bloodlust of mrs. dauphin was a terrible shock, but it also made people sigh the power of hate, and make the woman who should be happy and happy to be the nemesis. at the end of the eighteenth century, france was burned into asurra hell by this perverse and vengeful flame. lessons and meanings cannot be forgotten by the years. if we cant get something out of it, the same tragedy will happen again. two hundred years later, we hope that we can create a new century of true equality, freedom and fraternity in this generation.

there is no doubt that pride and prejudice is well-known, the book that is written by jane austen has an influence on the culture。as far as i’m concerned ,the ending of the fiction is wonderful, elizabeth and darcy won their happiness, leading a colourful life 。

first of all, let’s learn about the author who is jane austen 。she was unmarried all her life。 she was born in a mid-class family and was brought up in a fortable environment with harmonious surroundings, so there’s not too many conflicts in her sight neither in her novel。 in pride and prejudice she talked different ideas about love and marriage through different characters。

jane austen disclosed mid-class young ladies’ different ideas of marriage and love through describing the different ways in which the bennet girls doing with their marriage problems, and this undoubtedly shows the writer’s idea about love and marriage: it’s wrong to get married just for property, wealth and status while neither would it be without caring about those elements。jane austen just attached great significance to marriage through her novel。

by telling people that marriage should be regarded carefully。

then, let’s get close to story。the details is that mr。 bennet is an english gentleman with an estate in hertfordshire。 he has five unmarried daughters but no sons while his inheritance must be inherited by a male, so mrs。 bennet has been keen to seek husband for her daughters with great enthusiasm。

one day the bennets had a new neighbor called bingley who was a wealthy bachelor and followed be the target of mrs。 bennet。 at a ball bingley fell in love with jane bennet who’s the oldest daughter of the bennets。 bingley’s friend darcy also came to the ball and struck the sights, many girls liked him while he thought all of them couldn’t suit his preference, including elizabeth。 mr。 darcy always shows others a impression of pride, having found this elizabeth began to hate mr。 darcy。

before long darcy fell in love with elizabeth bennett because of her lovely behavior, while elizabeth is disgusted by his pride and has a prejudice about him。 the official wickham was weled by the villagers, and elizabeth also took a shine to him。 wickham told someting about darcy, which increased eli’s prejudice about mr。 darcy。 at

another ball mr。 darcy invited elizabeth to dance with him, but eli refused him。 eli’s elder male cousin mr。 collin came to hertfordshire to inherit the bennetts property by rules, he wanted to marry with one of the bennets。 having known that jane was already engaged with mr。 bingley, he asked elizabeth to marry him but was seriously rejected。 at last he proposed to charllote who was eli’s friend。

mr。 collins was good at flattering and he got the pastorate with the help of lady catherine。 once his family was invited to rosings garden by lady catherine。 elizabeth also went there with mr。 collin and charllote。 there she met mr。 darcy who’s lady catherine’s nephew。then mr。 darcy came to the collins’ and confessed his love for elizabeth, of course he was rejected impolitely。

afterwards mr。 darcy wrote a letter to eli in order to remove her misunderstandings of him。 elizabeth’s uncle and aunt were also impressed by mr。 darcy’s politeness。 gradually eli’s prejudice of mr。 darcy disappeared。 eventually they became couple。

in my opinion ,on the one hand,i think elizabeth has personality ethic which caused her independent idea about love and marriage and in consequence she earned a happy

life。 there’re also eli’s sisters’ love stories served as contrasts to the female subject’s ideal marriage, such as charlotte and collin’s life: they do had a luxury life, but there’s no real love between them and this kind of marriage is surely a tragedy of society。on the other hand, darcy is brave ,he did do his best to pursuit his love。

as a matter of fact, everyone has shortings ,after reading the story ,i did realize that we should find our advantages and disadvantages by ourselves。moreover,it’s necessary for us to try our best to get over shortings。i am aware that we ought to get along with others with the same attitude。the right that seeking for happiness is equal for everyone。therefore,we should value the things that we have, and cherish the chances。
