"gone with the wind", a novel by american writer margaret mitchell, is one of my favorite books. i like scarletts brave and brave, like rhetts quick and decisive, like melanies outside soft.
i felt ambivalent about scarlett, but i hated and had to admire her. i admire her for her strong, admire her persistence for land, admire her can in the education of environment down had had changed work, admire her can disregard social comments on and start my own business. she is beautiful and willful, not a popular person. she would play tricks, but she was tough, she was passionate, she was a lovely woman. she likes the happiness and the rich life, she has been pursuing her ideal love. but destiny is not so simple. she was a very personable figure, and she had loved two men in her life, and she had not known one. if she knew ashley, she would not love him; if she knew rhett, she wouldnt lose him. shes been living up to rhett, and shes just chasing the prince of her dreams -- ashley. she just thought that ashley had it, she just made a gorgeous dress that ashley put on and fell in love with him. and the truth is, she just loves that dress.
scarletts life has several souls, one of her mother. her mother was a very capable, gentle and typical lady, who she admired most. however, the mother died of typhoid fever to save her life. the other, ashley, was her favorite for more than a decade. she was able to stand up in the face of adversity, in large part because of ashley. she was very dedicated to ashley. and one, melanie. for more than a decade, melanie had become an indispensable part of her life.
i think each of us will have our own desires, and everyone is pursuing their own happiness. desire can be a motivation for us. this desire leads to the development of culture and technology, which also leads to crime and war. desire is very important to us. we will pursue our own happiness, although we will encounter many difficulties and disputes, but we should not give up our own desires and pursuits. as she said: "i am too tired to think today. think about it tomorrow! we can rest, but we must not give up.
(一)学生求学必须具有科学的精神;

the old man and the sea is one of hemingway's most enduring works and may very well become one of the true classics of this generation. it played a great part in his winning the pulizer prize in 1953 and the 1954 novel prize for literature and confirmed his power and presence in the literary world. hemingway is also one of my favorite writers. besides the old man and the sea, i have read some of his other works, such as the sun also rises, a farewell to arms and the snow of kilimanijaro. but the old man and the sea is the one that left the deepest impression on me.
i first read this book when i was in my fifteens. and now i remember it just as well as if i had read it yesterday.
pride and prejudice is a chefdoeuvre.
my first impression of this story was from screen.
it's long long ago, maybe before i can read english books. i don't remember which movie edition i had seen. but i was impressed by the music, the scenery and the costume. i was very favor of a section of music in its balls. it's pretty brisk, liked a wonderful song of a bird. regarding to the characters, i liked elizabeth, the heroine, though i didn't think she's beautiful. but she's smart. however, i didn't pay much attention to the plot. i thought it's so long that it made me impatient and bored. by now, i haven't read the whole story in english or its chinese version, either. i owe it to my prejudice.
in fact, i didn't understand the story at that time. i didn't know why it called pride and prejudice. of course someone was pride, but i didn't find where' s the prejudice. i thought it's normal, the way people treated each other in that. i considered prejudice would be very disgusting. but to the movie everthing was ok in my minds, except its length. now, i think i have understood more about it. i'm a prejudiced person so i can't find where's wrong. i merely like to do the things i like. everytime i meet somebody or something,my thinking about he or it all depends on my foregone experience and my mood of the time.

i have read a book the other day called the monkey’s paw which is written by w.w.jacobs.the story began on a cold and dark night.old mr white got a magic monkey paw from his friend morris.morris who told him that the monkey paw could give three wishes to three people, but it couldn’t bring them happiness.however, old mr white still used the paw to make wishes without listening to morris’s discourage.finally, he got thirty thousand pounds but his son died.at the end of the story, mrs white almost became crazy.the whole family fell into sadness and fear.
this story is gripping and also a little scary.it is tragic and sobering.the plot is both unexpected and reasonable.although old mr white’s friend had warned him,but he didn’t listen.at last it became a tragedy.what caused all this?it’s obvious that the mr white’s greed. he wanted to get the money with no pay,but that is impossible in this world.i’m afraid he’ll live out the rest of his life in regret. the three men who used the monkey’s paw all paid an irreparable price for their greed.
this short novel tells us a lesson that we can’t daydream.waiting for money and success comes with no pay is stupid and not realistic.we should work and study harder.chase the treasure on your own without regret or sadness.
